Using Home-Grown Crops Across a Beef and Dairy Enterprise
D Harriott: Providing a complete feed plan for a mixed beef and dairy farm in West Sussex
B&W Feeds have been working with D Harriott for 10 years. The operation consists of 4 farms in total which are run by Alfie Harriott. Across the four farms the business operates a mixed cattle farm with both a beef herd and a dairy herd, alongside some mixed arable crops.
The owners wanted to ensure they get the maximum value from their cattle feed so wanted to use the crops they grew on farm. But it wasn't appropriate for them to have a static mill which is where our mobile mill and mix feed service was the ideal solution.
We now mill over 150 tonnes of feed per month for the business, though the amount does fluctuate throughout the year depending on the feed requirements at that time.
