Mobile Feed Milling
Make More Use of Home-Grown Crops on Your Farm
B&W Feeds provides mobile mill-and-mix services to livestock farms across Kent, subject to route availability, feed requirements and the practical suitability of the farm.
Our specialist mobile mills process suitable cereals and pulses directly on your farm. Complementary ingredients such as proteins, minerals, oils and supplements can then be incorporated according to the agreed ration, producing finished livestock feed on site.
With a mobile milling base in Kent, B&W Feeds supports farms across the county and into other parts of South East and Eastern England.

How Mobile Mill-and-Mix Works
Mobile mill-and-mix allows suitable farms to turn cereals and pulses already grown and stored on farm into livestock feed without operating their own permanent feed mill.
Before the first visit, we will discuss your livestock, available crops, forage, current feeding system and approximate feed requirements.
When the mobile mill arrives, the agreed ingredients are processed on farm and complementary feeds can be incorporated as required. The finished ration can then be discharged into suitable bins, tote bags, trailers or an agreed floor or storage area.
For farms producing their own cereals and pulses, this can provide a practical way to make greater use of those crops while maintaining clear visibility over the ingredients included in the ration.

Is Mobile Mill-and-Mix Suitable for Your Farm?
Mobile milling will not be the right option for every farm.
Location and route capacity are important, but we will also consider the quantity of crops available, feed volume, livestock requirements, vehicle access and how the finished feed will be stored.
To help us assess your requirements, please send us:
- Your farm postcode.
- Livestock species and approximate numbers.
- Whether the farm is organic or conventional.
- Home-grown cereals or pulses available.
- Approximate feed requirement.
- Current storage or preferred discharge arrangement.
- Any access restrictions that may affect a large vehicle.
Our team can then confirm current service availability and discuss whether mobile mill-and-mix could be appropriate for your business.
We started working with the Dippy Egg Company a few years ago. They have a flock of free range laying hens who produce eggs. A central part of the company's ethos is sustainability which is why they were keen to ensure their feed supply was environmental conscious and sustainable. The feeding ration also had to be carefully considered as the poultry is on split feeds to ensure the best ration at every stage of production
At B&W Feeds we were able to support this ethos by helping the business to reduce its feed miles and improve traceability through our mobile feed milling service. We now provide 40 tons of feed to the Dippy Egg Company every week. All the feed is milled and mixed directly on the farm in Kent which keeps feed miles to minimum.
