Mobile Feed Milling
Mill and Mix Feeds Mobile Milling Services on Your Farm
We produce mixed animal feeds via our portable milling machine, direct on your farm. The service is quick, clean and accurate enabling our customers to utilise cereals & pulses available on farm.
We can produce large quantities of good quality feed, as experts in animal nutrition, we can discuss how we can produce the optimum feed and ration for your livestock. We offer our services across Dorset.
Where suitable cereals or pulses are available on farm, mobile milling can help connect the cropping and livestock sides of the business.
Rather than sending suitable grain away and buying all of the finished feed back in, you can use agreed home-grown ingredients within a ration designed around your livestock. That gives you greater visibility over what is going into the feed and helps you make purposeful use of crops already available to the business.
The final ration does not have to rely entirely on what you grow. Where additional ingredients are required, B&W Feeds can supply complementary feed materials so the ration can be built around both your own resources and the nutritional requirements of the livestock.

HOW A MOBILE MILL-AND-MIX VISIT WORKS
Before the first visit, we discuss the ration you want to produce, the cereals or pulses available, the approximate quantity required, any complementary ingredients needed, farm access and where the finished feed will be stored.
On the day, our mobile mill-and-mix unit processes the agreed farm-grown ingredients on site. Proteins, minerals, oils, supplements or other agreed feed materials can then be incorporated to the required formulation.
Once mixed, the finished feed can be discharged into the agreed bin, tote bag, trailer or suitable floor or storage area, depending on your farm setup.
Planning the ration, ingredients, access and discharge point in advance helps make each visit efficient and ensures the feed fits your existing system.

MORE THAN A MOBILE MILLING VISIT
One of the practical advantages of working with B&W Feeds in Dorset is access to the wider feed operation based here.
Alongside mobile mill-and-mix, B&W Feeds produces standard and bespoke pre-mixed feeds and supplies straights, concentrates, minerals and supplementary products. Both organic and conventional feed options are available, subject to the requirements of the individual ration and product.
This can be useful when your own crops provide part of the ration but not everything needed to complete it, when stocks of a particular ingredient are short, or when a separate group of livestock is better suited to a pre-mixed feed.
Pre-mixed feeds are made to order and can be arranged for collection or delivery. If you are unsure whether mobile milling, a pre-mixed ration or a combination of the two is the best fit, talk to the team about what you have available and what you are trying to achieve.
